The School of Allied Health in the College of Health at the University of Alaska Anchorage, is seeking a part-time, Term Assistant Professor to teach Surgical Technology and prerequisites courses in the School of Allied Health. We seek a qualified individual to provide didactic and/or clinical instruction in a surgical technology program. The ideal candidate will have teaching experience with a focus on student-centered learning, engagement, and excellence. They should possess knowledge of the current scope of surgical technology practices, contemporary curricular content, and the ability to evaluate student outcomes effectively.

A strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively within a multicultural environment. Additional qualifications include excellent communication skills, computer literacy, and current knowledge of nursing or nursing aide practices.

This role supports the College of Health's mission by contributing to the education of skilled healthcare professionals and fostering a diverse and dynamic learning environment.

To thrive in this role, a candidate should bring significant experience in Surgical Technology, demonstrated either through operating room scrub roles or as an instructor in the field within the past decade. They must possess substantial teaching experience, showcasing a commitment to student-centered learning, engagement, and excellence, supported by documented success in using instructional technologies and strong communication skills. A background in leading or collaborating within a diverse, multicultural workforce is essential.

Preferred qualifications include experience in curriculum development, assessment, and program management, as well as familiarity with accreditation processes and industry standards. Additionally, understanding the unique training considerations and needs for Surgical Technology in Alaska is highly valued.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Current NCCA-approved credentials in surgical technology (CST).
• Master degree in related field preferred.

Position Details:

This position is located on the goose Lake campus in Anchorage, Alaska. This is a part-time, exempt, term funded, faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
