The UAF Facilities Services Design and Construction team is responsible for planning, developing, and delivering the facilities and infrastructure that support Alaska's premier research university. The Project Manager serves as the University's representative throughout the full lifecycle of capital projects, from initial concept and programming through design, construction, occupancy, and warranty. Working with campus stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies, this position leads a diverse portfolio of projects that may include academic facilities, laboratories, utilities, infrastructure, housing, and specialized research spaces. The role offers the opportunity to manage meaningful projects that directly support education, research, and community service while working in a collaborative environment where professional judgment, leadership, and problem-solving are highly valued. No two projects are alike, and every project leaves a lasting impact on the University and the communities it serves.

The Project Manager is a professional role responsible for the comprehensive management of capital design and construction projects from program development through warranty. The position oversees multiple concurrent projects of moderate to high complexity and applies advanced project management practices to ensure quality, fiscal control, schedule adherence, procurement compliance, and alignment with University policy and strategic objectives.

To thrive in this role, candidates should enjoy solving complex problems, working with diverse groups of people, and bringing organization and construction knowledge to projects with many moving parts. Successful project managers can balance technical, financial, operational, and stakeholder considerations while maintaining focus on scope, budget, schedule, quality, and delivering the best value to the University. Experience with planning, design, construction, facilities, infrastructure, or capital project management is highly desirable, along with the ability to communicate effectively, exercise sound professional judgment, and build consensus among stakeholders with differing priorities. The ideal candidate is adaptable, accountable, and comfortable leading projects that are often unique, highly visible, and critical to the University's educational, research, and public service mission.
