Disability Support Services (DSS) serves approximately 400 students per year. This is an entry level position in the field of ADA accommodations and student services. If you are interested we encourage you to apply!

This position is housed in UAA's DSS department under the division of Student Affairs. In this position you will work directly with the student body assisting with accommodations, providing disability related information, consultation and training to students, faculty, staff and all departments with UAA. You will provide academic support services to students who experience disability, in accordance with the federal, state, and university disability laws, regulations, and policies. You will be part of a team that supports the community at UAA.

To thrive in this role the successful applicant would understand a range of disabilities and respective support services. Ability to build and maintain rapport with a complex and varied population of students. Ability to articulate different types of accessibility needs. Knowledge and ability to use and demonstrate complex assistive technology. Ability to communicate and explore skills, strategies and potential accommodations which may be helpful for complex and varied populations at the post-secondary level, especially those who experience a variety of disabilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

One year college coursework in a related field and one year relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. 

Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Position Details:

This is a part-time, term-funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 76, based on education and experience.
