The Aviation Technology Division (ATD), within the University of Alaska Anchorage’s Community and Technical College (CTC), represents the latest in aviation education technologies in a large facility with state-of-the-art classrooms and labs. The mission of the ATD is to enhance, promote, and provide quality aviation education, research and service worldwide. The ATD is currently welcoming applications from qualified candidates to fill its Flight Operations Scheduling Officer vacancy within the Flight Operations Department.

Under the direction of the Director of Operations, this position schedules aircraft, students, and flight instructors; manages activity in the flight operations center; maintains scheduling and risk assessment software; meets with prospective flight students; coordinates student registrations and course approvals; tracks enrollment, grades, and student progress; processes student payments, deposits, and financial reconciliation; prepares reports and invoices; trains staff in accounting and scheduling software; supervises temporary staff and student employees; assists with regulatory compliance and administrative duties.

To thrive in this position, the ideal candidate will have experience with U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) regulations and supporting students using GI Bill educational benefits; knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations Parts 61, 91, 93, and 141; and experience in both the Alaska aviation industry and aviation resource management.

The ideal candidate will also demonstrate excellent customer service skills, possess supervisory experience, and have experience with cash management and handling, as well as simple accounting processes.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will be organized and task-oriented, with experience establishing, maintaining, and controlling records, including confidential records. They will also have advanced computer proficiency and experience with spreadsheet, database, and word processing applications; Flight Schedule Pro; billing software; and complex web-based management, administration, and financial enterprise resource planning systems such as Banner and IRIS.

Minimum Qualifications:

Some college coursework and one year experience related to program specialty, or an equivalent combination of training and experience; OR three years of progressively responsible office/administrative experience

Position Details:

This position is located on the Aviation Technology Complex at Merrill Field Airport in Anchorage, AK. This is a full-time, term-funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience.
