The Fiscal Technician III serves as the primary fiscal support for Kachemak Bay Campus, managing day-to-day financial operations and ensuring compliance with University of Alaska fiscal policies. This role monitors fiscal activity, maintains budget and fiscal records, and may be responsible for authorizing expenditures and forecasting budget needs. The position requires strong attention to detail, proficiency with financial systems, and the ability to work independently in a normal office environment with near-continuous use of computer systems.
To thrive in this role you are a highly organized, detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and a commitment to fiscal accuracy. You excel at maintaining complex financial records, can interpret budget data to identify trends or discrepancies, and communicate financial information clearly to non-financial staff. You bring proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills, along with the ability to work independently while managing multiple fiscal deadlines. You're comfortable with near-continuous computer work, possess strong problem-solving abilities, and understand the importance of confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information.
Minimum Qualifications:
One year of college coursework in accounting or related field AND two years of relevant experience; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred:
Two to three years of experience in an administrative or business services office environment.
Position Details:
This position is located on the Kenai Peninsula College, Kachemak Bay campus in Homer, Alaska. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 77, starting at $23.38 based on education and experience.
