The University of Alaska Anchorage, School of Nursing (SON) is recruiting for multiple Term Assistant Professor of Nursing positions across multiple locations. We are seeking innovative, energetic professionals to contribute to our nursing education programs which include those taught on campuses or delivered via distance learning to sites throughout the state. We endeavor to grow our program across Alaska, as excellent healthcare education is the cornerstone of prevention, wellness, and quality of life.

As a Term Assistant Professor faculty member within the University of Alaska Anchorage School of Nursing (SON) program, you will be shaping healthcare by educating students for current and future roles in local, state and national arenas as well as encouraging productive citizenship, promoting personal growth and providing the tools for excellence in nursing practice. Daily you will plan, implement and teach nursing degree curriculum to a diverse student population on campus or via distance format to multiple communities statewide. Additionally, you will participate in university and community service activities and help the SON promote the health and well-being of people and populations by fostering greatness and innovation in nursing education, research, and healthcare.

For this role, candidates must have the ability to foster healthy relationships with students, colleagues, and the community to assist in fulfilling the School's core values of excellence, respect, integrity, and care. A strong background in Nursing education to include curriculum development, teaching methods, and clinical instruction will ensure the candidate thrives as an educator in preparing the next generation of nursing professionals. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written will be invaluable to effectively collaborate, anticipate and implement initiatives to meet the challenges of delivering healthcare education in both urban and rural settings of Alaska. Lastly, candidates that are self-motivated, student-centered and believe in promoting diversity and inclusivity in the classroom and workplace will be infallible in enriching Nursing Education for all.

Minimum Qualifications:

•Must hold a Master’s degree in Nursing or conferral of Master’s degree in Nursing by time of hire
•Must be eligible for and maintain an unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska
•Must have at least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse to include experience in medical-surgical or other nursing specialties
•Experience working with private and public external constituencies

Preference will be given to applicants with:
•Undergraduate teaching experience in an academic institution, in either face-to-face or online learning modalities
•Experience with curriculum development, particularly given the opportunity for ongoing and progressive distance education course development
•Experience in additional specialty areas
•Demonstrate the ability to foster collegiality and work collaboratively within a diverse environment
•Commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity in the classroom and workplace
•Demonstrate the ability to work effectively and collaboratively within the scope of the University of Alaska mission with a diverse student population and university staff

Position Details:

These positions are Term Funded, Assistant Professor rank, 9-months per year (mid August-mid May), complete with full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, paid holidays, affordable medical, dental and vision coverage, as well as tuition waivers for employees and family members. Faculty salary is based upon the level of academic appointment, applicable preparation, and experience.
