Are you ready for your next HR challenge? The University of Alaska is seeking a Senior Employee Accommodation Specialist to serve as the institution’s subject matter expert on workplace accommodations. In this role, you will partner closely with Leaves, Labor & Employee Relations, and General Counsel to ensure compliance with federal and state laws while managing complex and high-risk accommodation cases. You will lead the Accommodations team by overseeing case management, providing strategic guidance, and ensuring quality, consistency, and legally defensible outcomes across the program. This position also plays a key role in identifying trends, improving processes, and educating managers and HR partners—helping to build a compliant, equitable, and effective workplace.

To thrive in this role, you must excel at balancing compliance, strategic thinking, and clear communication. You bring strong knowledge of the ADA, PWFA, Section 504, and related laws, along with the ability to apply them in practical, real-world situations. You are motivated to build and improve processes, and you have experience leading or mentoring others, with a focus on setting expectations, coaching, and developing staff. You are skilled at navigating complex, high-risk situations, exercising sound judgment, and making defensible decisions in ambiguous environments. You collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners, including Legal and Labor & Employee Relations, and are able to influence and educate managers on accommodation practices. You also identify trends and translate data into meaningful insights for leadership, while maintaining thorough, accurate documentation and strict confidentiality.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and three years professional human resources experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Direct experience with accommodations. Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred.
