The Adjunct for Math position focuses on teaching developmental math courses, with the potential to also teach math study skills. In addition to instructing in key math concepts, the role may include teaching math study skills courses that focus on improving students’ learning strategies and overall academic performance. As an instructor, you will play a crucial role in fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment where students can gain confidence in their mathematical abilities and succeed academically. You will work closely with students who need additional guidance in math, helping them build the skills necessary to achieve their educational goals.

To thrive in this position, you should bring a passion for teaching and a commitment to student success. Candidates should be capable of working independently and as part of a team, with the ability to use technology effectively in the classroom. Strong communication skills and the ability to create a supportive learning environment for students are key. Experience teaching developmental math and proficiency with online learning platforms will help ensure your success in helping students build their foundational math skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in mathematics or a related field, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher in mathematics coursework.

• Experience using educational technology, such as Canvas and ALEKS, is required.

• At least one year of teaching experience in developmental-level math (which may include high school instruction).

Position Details:

This position is located in Fairbanks, Alaska. This is a part-time, adjunct instructor position. Minimum salaries are set by the Collective Bargaining Agreement with United Academic - Adjuncts, AAUP-AFT/AFL-CIO. Salaries may vary based on education and experience.

This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis as additional adjunct instructors are needed.
