The University of Alaska Anchorage, Department of Event Services, seeks an Events Coordinator to oversee all event aspects across the UAA campus, from small meetings, events, to large conferences. Utilizing excellent written and oral communication and multi-tasking skills, the Events Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of event bookings and facilitation for on-campus and off-campus clients. In a fast-paced environment, the Event Coordinator is responsible for providing excellent customer service to assure client satisfaction and rebooking of events; including processing requests, scheduling, event set-ups, AV needs, and billing. The Events Coordinator works with clients from start to completion of events, to ensure estimates, budgets, logistics and execution of the event are completed in a timely and professional manner. As needed the Event Coordinator will provide support outside typical responsibilities to all aspects of divisional need to further the goals and mission of Campus Services. Working under the oversight of the General Manager, provide highly responsible staff assistance, and other duties and projects as assigned.
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable professional with a strong commitment to customer service and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in the hospitality or events industry and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-demand environment. Flexibility is essential, including the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, with approved overtime available. Strong written and verbal communication skills, a professional attitude and appearance, and excellent interpersonal skills are required. Candidates must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and possess strong organizational and leadership capabilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience working with databases are essential. The role demands strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to meet tight deadlines while coordinating multi-faceted projects. A demonstrated ability to deliver outstanding customer service, especially with high-demand clients, is critical. Experience working with the public, supporting diverse teams, and supervising student staff is highly valued. The successful candidate will thrive in a multi-tasking environment, foster a collaborative and inclusive workplace, and remain calm and effective under pressure. Additional duties and special projects may be assigned as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and/or significant work experience in lieu of a degree preferred, though not required. Knowledge, background, coursework or training in the hospitality industry, and/or marketing preferred.
Position Details:
This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience.
A valid Alaska Driver's License and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria.
