Now's your chance to join Rasmuson Library's mission of supporting research for the students and scholars of UAF. As part of the Circulation department, you'll help get our patrons the materials they need and give them a pleasant and fruitful library experience. As a shift supervisor, you'll train student-employees in customer service and keep them engaged in library projects. And as our stacks coordinator, you'll monitor and plan for collection growth, and plan our space use accordingly.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal communication skills, excellent customer service skills, and experience working with diverse populations. As a Circulation Supervisor you will need to understand the need in libraries for patron confidentiality and to adhere to state laws and other confidentiality protocol. You will need to stay impartial about patrons' research needs and about the content of library collections. Basic knowledge of computer operations and standard office software are needed, as is the ability to work evenings and weekends with some daytime hours.

To thrive in this position, you should be eager to help patrons meet their library needs and be capable when needed of making patron-friendly exceptions to policy that are consistent with library goals. You must be able to prioritize multiple demands, keep good working relationships with coworkers and the general public, work with communication and collaboration software, and use and provide basic troubleshooting for public-use machinery such as copiers and computers. Some physical work is essential, and you must be able to climb ladders and stools, crouch, pull/push, perform repetitive movement, carry, reach, squat, twist/bend, and lift up to 40 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent.
Library work experience.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Fairbanks campus.   This is a part-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 76, based on education and experience.
