The UAA Child Welfare Academy is accepting applications for a Trainer. We are seeking applicants who have an understanding and ability to work with a highly charged political arena of child protection; skill to communicate with all levels of experience and responsibility within the organization, and to work with many partners in the child welfare system, including the legal arena.

This position requires extensive knowledge of best practices within child welfare, including family engagement, risk, and safety assessment, interviewing, case planning, permanency, and other facets. Ability to relate to diverse workforce and to assess their knowledge and ability levels, and to develop training plans for the workforce. Consultation skills to work with OCS personnel in all areas of child welfare. Ability to utilize technology in development and delivery of training modules; development and use of presentation technology (i.e., PowerPoint and Blackboard, etc.). Independently able to evaluate training effectiveness and develop appropriate programs for training to those needs. Knowledge of statewide data systems and their impact on worker performance and effectiveness. Ability to network with national trainers, as well as state and federal child welfare administrators, trainers, and educators.

A successful candidate must have the ability to function independently within a complex, multifaceted statewide organization as trainer and partner in development of best practice modules. Understand and ability to work with a highly charged political arena of child protection; skill to communicate with all levels of experience and responsibility within the organization, and to work with many partners in the child welfare system, including the legal arena. Must know federal and state child welfare laws and regulations, NASW Code of Ethics, Federal policy, procedures and child welfare best practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Social Work degree or Bachelor’s degree in a related field with two years of child welfare experience, or an equivalent combination of training/education and experience in child welfare.

Position Details:

This is a full-time, term-funded, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
