The College of Natural Science and Mathematics is seeking a dynamic, outgoing, multi-talented candidates to develop marketing content, manage outreach campaigns and guide prospective students.

As a member of the college core administrative team. This position has 3 key area: Communication, Student Recruitment and Marketing. The incumbent will be responsible for designing and implementing the college communications strategy, developing major communication pieces at the college level, creating and maintaining marketing materials for recruitment, assisting department with their design needs, assisting with fundraising and event planning and marketing as needed/requested. The student recruitment aspects of this position include (but are not limited to) coordinating and marketing CNSM's academic programs through various means including events, college and career fairs, high school presentations, and meeting with interested students/family members.

To thrive in this role, the successful applicant must have excellent verbal/written communication skills with the ability to write well and convey a story with expertise to translate research and education to broader audiences; must have ability to self-motivate, think critically, set goals and accomplish those goals; have ability to follow applicable policies, rules, regulations and ethical practices; have ability to interact extensively with diverse constituents for CNSM advocacy.

This position requires multiple skill sets that include, but are not limited to writing, graphic design, desktop publishing, photography/videography and editing, web design and development. Ability to use latest graphic, photo and video software.
The successful candidate will have an understanding of student recruitment be able to connect with incoming students and be able to creatively think outside the box for ways to increase CNSM's student population.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, graphic design, public relations, journalism, or a related field. Three years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, graphic design, public relations, journalism, or a related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of training and experience, or extensive experience in marketing, graphic design, public relations, journalism, or a related field may be substituted for the educational requirement.

We have a fast paced and dynamic work environment that may require the Communications Specialist to attend some field activities as well as participate in various off-campus recruiting events (some of which require travel). The successful candidate must be able to sit, stand or walk/hike for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 30+ pounds. Must be able to travel.

A valid Alaska Driver's License and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria.

Position Details:
This position is located on the Troth Yeddha’ campus in Fairbanks, AK. This is a full-time, FLSA-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
