The role of an Associate Director of Financial Aid is crucial in managing and overseeing financial aid programs within educational institutions. To thrive in this role, here are some key responsibilities associated with this position:

1. Supervision and Management: The Associate Director collaborates with the Director of Financial Aid to supervise and manage the Financial Aid Office. In the absence of the Director, the Associate Director assumes responsibility for the office and its operation.

2. Financial Aid Administration: They play a pivotal role in administering financial aid programs, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing guidance to students regarding available aid options.

3. Team Collaboration: Working closely with other team members, the Associate Director contributes to the efficient functioning of the financial aid department. They may oversee specific functional areas, such as need-based aid, scholarships, or loan programs.

4. Student Support: The Associate Director assists students in understanding financial aid processes, eligibility criteria, and application procedures. They address inquiries, resolve issues, and provide personalized assistance.

5. Policy Implementation: They help implement financial aid policies, review applications, and assess eligibility based on established guidelines. Additionally, they participate in awarding financial aid packages to eligible students.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of progressively responsible relevant experience and one year of management experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska Southeast campus in Juneau, Alaska. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 81, based on education and experience.
