The College of Business and Security Management Dean's Office is seeking an organized, friendly, and motivated Student Advisor/Recruiting Coordinator who enjoys working as part of a team. This position is a 12-month full time benefited position with regular business hours (Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm). Occasional weekends and evenings, and travel to college/career fairs may be required.

This position serves as one of three full-time academic advisors for CBSM, which has undergraduate programs in Accounting, Applied Management, Business Administration, Economics, and Homeland Security and Emergency Management. Our graduate degree programs include a Masters of Business Administration, Masters of Healthcare Management and Leadership, and a Masters of Security and Disaster Management. CBSM also offers a post baccalaureate certificate in Accounting, multiple graduate certificates in Homeland Security and Emergency Management fields, and an Occupational Endorsement Certificate in Homeland Security.

This position performs academic advising at the undergraduate level for CBSM programs. Duties involve advising students in person, over the phone, via email, and via Zoom. This position will work with the other academic advisors to plan, coordinate, and implement recruiting and retention activities. The academic advisor meets with students and parents during campus visits and works closely with the UAF Admissions office.

Duties will also involve attending college and career fairs locally and outside of Fairbanks, speaking to incoming students at UAF events, and meeting with students at local high schools. The incumbent will perform public presentations to groups visiting campus and to groups of interested students, either in-person or virtually. This position will also be involved in creating articulation agreements with other colleges around the country for CBSM programs.

Must have the ability to provide high-quality advising to incoming and current students. Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of students. Ability to work with faculty, staff, and students in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. A successful candidate must have the ability to interpret, apply, and communicate UAF academic policies and procedures. 

This position requires a high level of confidentiality and a thorough understanding of FERPA. 

Prefer work experience in higher education.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience or training in a professional environment. At least 2 years of relevant work experience.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and a full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, and step will be based on education and experience.
