Associate Director for Campus Recreation

Are you looking for a leadership role that directly impacts student retention and shapes the campus experience? The UAS Campus Life team is seeking a dynamic, student-centered professional to lead our programming as the Associate Director for Campus Recreation.

In this position, you will oversee our unique Joint Use recreation facility—managed in partnership with the Alaska Army National Guard—while directing a comprehensive portfolio of fitness, court sports, and outdoor recreation programs, including our signature climbing wall and gear rental services. The Associate Director drives daily facility operations, guides budget strategy, and cultivates high-impact partnerships with local community organizations.

Beyond facility management, you will supervise and mentor a dedicated team of student staff, empowering them to build an engaged, active campus culture. We are looking for a candidate passionate about fostering inclusive recreational spaces, driving student success initiatives, and elevating the UAS experience in Southeast Alaska.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in related field and four years progressively responsible relevant experience and one years management experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Master’s Degree in Recreation Management, Student Affairs and Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or a related field strongly preferred.

Position Details:

This position is located on the UAS campus in Juneau, AK. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 81, based on education and experience.

The position is expected to start in August 2026.
