The University of Alaska Anchorage College of Health is seeking a full time, administrative faculty member to serve as Assistant Dean for the Alaska WWAMI School of Medical Education. This position plays a vital role in shaping the academic and administrative landscape of our institution by providing strategic leadership and support to enhance student success, faculty development, and program innovation. Collaborating closely with the Dean, faculty, and administrative staff from UAA and the University of Washington School of Medical Education (UWSOM), the Assistant Dean will be responsible for the administration, oversight, and implementation of the Alaska WWAMI Medical Education program. The Assistant Dean will oversee various initiatives including curriculum development, accreditation processes, and student engagement activities, while also addressing the unique challenges faced by diverse student populations. In addition to supervising faculty and staff, this role involves curricular and fiduciary oversight, ongoing program assessment, student recruitment and support, and promoting alumni and stakeholder engagement.

This position requires a dynamic individual who is passionate about higher education and dedicated to the growth and development of students, faculty and staff. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, have post-secondary leadership experience, along with a commitment to promoting a collaborative and innovative educational environment. Successful candidates will possess a doctoral degree in an area appropriate to medical education (Ph.D., Ed.D., M.D., D.O.) and, if intending to practice medicine, must be board certified/eligible and be licensed/license-eligible in Alaska.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctoral degree in an area appropriate to medical school education (e.g. Ph.D, Ed.D., M.D., D.O., etc)
Prior leadership experience in an accredited post-secondary institution
Prior teaching experience in an accredited post-secondary institution
M.D. and D.O. candidates intending to practice medicine must be board certified/eligible and be licensed/license-eligible in Alaska

Position Details:

This position is located on the UAA campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, term-funded, non-represented administrative faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. Salary is commensurate with experience.
