The Data Center Operations (DCO) group within the University of Alaska’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) is seeking a full-time Data Center Technician. The successful candidate will monitor the status of the UA’s statewide computer network, enterprise applications, hosted computer systems, and data center infrastructure, resolving or escalating any issues as needed. The Data Center Technician on duty maintains security of the state-of-the-art data center, monitors the building’s CCTV system, provides After Hours Service Desk support, and performs hardware installations. The successful candidate will be able to work shiftwork and overtime in a 24x7x365 data center, and must be comfortable working independently as part of a team. Current availability is for a swing-shift position, 4:00 pm - midnight. The option of moving to a different shift in the future would be based on seniority.

Growth in this role includes developing expertise across the portfolio of technology services UAF and OIT offer, including Canvas, Blackboard, and Google Suite.
