Are you a highly skilled web developer with a strong foundation in front-end architecture, responsive design, and data integration? The University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) Enrollment Management Communications Team is looking for a dynamic Web Developer to lead the design, development, and strategy of our digital presence. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to drive impactful web projects that directly support student recruitment, retention and engagement. You'll collaborate with a passionate, driven team and a variety of stakeholders to ensure our web content is modern, accessible, user-friendly, and aligned with UAF’s mission and brand.

As a key team member, you’ll manage and maintain enrollment-related websites, troubleshoot issues, retrofit older pages, and create compelling digital content — including photos, graphics, animations and layouts. You'll also take a strategic lead on developing site architectures, improving web usability and accessibility, and integrating data from multiple sources to inform your decisions. Your efforts will help shape the digital experience for thousands of prospective and current students.

This role also includes critical application and technical support responsibilities, using productivity software for project management, developing and managing web forms for CRM data collection, and creating engaging data visualizations with tools like Google Data Studio. You’ll bring technical expertise in UI/UX design, a sharp eye for analytics and optimization, and a proactive mindset for continuous improvement.

To thrive in this position, a candidate should possess a solid foundation in strategic marketing, communication, and public relations principles, along with proficiency in design software. Experience in conceptualizing, developing, and designing web content to reflect distinct voices and appeal to diverse audiences is essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence in HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript, as well as the ability to provide copy editing and proofreading services when needed, with a strong command of the English language. Knowledge of SEO and web traffic metrics, along with an understanding of user experience best practices across both browser and mobile environments, is important for ensuring web effectiveness. Strong organizational and time management skills are necessary, including the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail. Preferred qualifications include experience with OU Campus or similar content management systems, Marketing Cloud, Salesforce/Visualforce, and Salesforce web-to-lead forms. Experience with marketing-focused copywriting or editing is also desirable. Familiarity with EnrollmentRx, FormbuilderRx, EventsRx, or the Salesforce EDA environment is a plus, as is knowledge of additional coding languages such as SQL, Python, or Apex. A minimum of three years of professional experience in a closely related field is required, along with demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, high customer service standards, and the ability to work and lead effectively within a team environment. Technical knowledge of HTML and web publishing in a professional setting is also expected.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, computer science or other related area preferred; three years of full-time employment in marketing or communications; experience in web development; demonstrated proficient verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team; demonstrated attention to detail and instructions. Excellent desktop computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and Powerpoint, Google Apps suite, and Adobe Creative Cloud suite, specifically for web-based content creation. Ability to work effectively under pressure of deadlines and multiple simultaneous.

Position Details:

This is a full-time, term-funded, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
