TRIO Programs is dedicated to student success and assisting students in navigating college. TRIO is hiring dedicated students to serve as Team Leaders for summer programming (mid May - July 2025), with the potential to continue with TRIO SSS during the 2025-2026 academic year. TRIO Team Leaders must be self-motivated, work well independently and as a part of a team, have great social skills, and be comfortable working with a diverse student population.
TRIO's summer programming is designed to provide high school students and first-time freshmen with the necessary skills and support to successfully transition into college at UAA. Some summer participants will complete 1-2 college courses with a cohort of their peers and the support of Team Leaders.
TRIO Team Leaders help students identify and access UAA resources, provide academic support, develop and implement extra-curricular activities, model successful student behaviors, and provide group and individual coaching and support.
Team Leaders will begin training in mid May and then transition into working with students from June through early August-exact dates are yet to be determined. There is a possibility of continuing through the school year at a reduced schedule depending on fit and need.
To thrive in this role, it is recommended but not required for an applicant to have:
Completed 60 college credits or more
Current TRIO Student Support Services Student or student with a similar background to Summer Bridge students (first-generation college student and/or Pell Eligible)
Have completed a previous Summer Bridge or similar program
Have previous experience as a tutor, program leader, peer mentor, team leader, or similar
Minimum Qualifications:
Successful applicants must have:
Completed a minimum of 30 undergraduate credits, including WRTG A111 and MATH A151 (or their equivalents)
Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
Position Details:
This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus. This is a full-time student worker position from June 24 to August 5, with the possibility of extension into the school year for up to 20 hours per week during the semester depending on fit and need. Pay is $18 to $20 per hour.
