The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), School of Allied Health seeks an innovative, energetic individual who will work in a collaborative teaching environment in the delivery of Allied Health courses in the UAA Speech Language Pathology (SLP) programs. The faculty member appointed to this position will provide advising to prospective and current students as well as didactic, laboratory, and clinical education to students enrolled in the SLP programs. The faculty member will contribute to the structure and daily operation of the program and clinic, including organization, administration, periodic review and evaluation, continued development, and general effectiveness of program curricula.

The School of Allied Health invites applications for a part-time Term Assistant Professor of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS). This role requires expertise in contemporary curricular content for DMS education, leveraging a background in specific content areas to teach and supervise undergraduate and graduate students. Responsibilities include delivering affective and cognitive instruction through diverse pedagogical methods such as lectures, clinical simulation, online teaching, and evaluations, utilizing tools like Blackboard and other curriculum management systems.
The ideal candidate will apply educational theory and methodology in curriculum development, student evaluation, and outcomes assessment, demonstrating strong written and oral communication, computer literacy (including MS PowerPoint and MS Word), and exceptional interpersonal skills. This role requires effective collaboration within a faculty team and the ability to work independently, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse academic environment aligned with the College of Health’s mission.
To thrive in this role as a Part-Time Term Assistant Professor of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, you should bring at least two years of professional experience in the discipline, with a preference for candidates who have both teaching experience in a DMS program and clinical expertise. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of one year as an instructor in a DMS program paired with two years of clinical practice.
Proficiency in clinical supervision, evaluation, instruction, curriculum development, and academic advising is essential. Additionally, ARDMS certification in AB, OB/GYN, BR, and RVT is highly desirable. Experience using online learning platforms, such as Canvas or Blackboard, will further support success in this role.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of an Associate’s Degree (Bachelor’s preferred) in Sonography or related field.
Minimum of two years of full-time experience as a registered sonographer.
ARDMS (AB, OB/GYN) or ARRT Certification in Sonography in good standing.
Position Details:
This position is located on the Goose Lake campus in Anchorage, AK. This is a full-time, 9-month faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
