The Department is seeking a dynamic and collaborative individual to join our team in advancing the mission of One Health — an integrative approach that recognizes the interdependence of human, animal, and environmental health. This position emphasizes the development and delivery of high-quality instruction, the pursuit of impactful research, and meaningful service at the departmental, university, and community levels.

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and teaching courses that reflect the interdisciplinary nature of One Health, fostering student engagement through innovative curricula and inclusive pedagogical approaches. They will also be expected to establish a productive, independent research program that involves both undergraduate and graduate students, and to pursue external funding opportunities. Additionally, the candidate will contribute to institutional service and outreach efforts, supporting the department’s commitment to public service and academic excellence.

The successful candidate will bring a collaborative, interdisciplinary mindset and a commitment to advancing the One Health approach through teaching, research, and service. They should demonstrate adaptability in developing curriculum and engaging students across diverse learning environments. A record of (or strong potential for) scholarly productivity, student mentorship, and effective communication will be key. The ability to work across disciplines and contribute to a collegial and inclusive academic community is essential.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants for this position must have completed a PhD or other terminal degree and have expertise in teaching distance education courses and guiding student research with a community based focus.
Desired areas of expertise include circumpolar health and wellness, One Health, Interdisciplinary research teams and working for Indigenous communities and tribes.

Position Details:

This position is located on the UAF campus in Fairbanks, Alaska. Remote work from the following locations will also be considered: Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, Girdwood, Chugiak, Eagle River, Kenai, Soldotna, Homer, Ketchikan, Palmer, Wasilla, Seward, Sitka, and Angoon 

This is a full-time, UNAC represented faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. Salary is commensurate based on education and experience.
