The University of Alaska Anchorage’s (UAA) Student Union is seeking applications to round out the team of event and operations professionals. Experience the rewards of working in higher education and growing your professional skills while having the flexibility to pursue your academic goals.

This is a 9-month, hourly position. Duties will include but are not limited to customer service, ensuring event spaces are set up correctly, cash handling, and keeping spaces organized and clean.

To thrive in this role a successful applicant would have the following skills and experience:

● Ability to exercise patience, focus, and understanding, and to lead others in stressful or emergency situations.
● Ability to exercise independent judgment and quality decision-making in working with customers and events in the Student Union.
● Ability to carry out assigned tasks and projects with little to no supervision, and to delegate tasks to others.
● Knowledge of/ability to work with audiovisual equipment.
● Good organizational, time management, and communication skills.
● Strong attention to detail.
● Ability to research answers or information without oversight.
● Ability to maintain confidentiality and security of information.
● Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with accommodation.
● Willingness to learn all job duties and accept new job duties as needed.
● Commitment to role modeling values of the Student Union, including quality customer service and teamwork.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have earned a high school diploma or equivalent GED.

Position Details:

This is a part-time, non-exempt, temporary staff position. New hires will be placed on the UA Temporary Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 76, based on education and experience. Average work hours are typically 10-20 hours per week. This position may be eligible for overtime hours based on the Student Union’s reservation schedule. Candidates must be flexible to work early mornings (6:45am), late evenings (11pm), and weekends.
