As our Student Support Technician, you will join a caring, fun, and diverse team at the Chukchi Campus. Your day-to-day work will involve sharing knowledge about our various IT systems and structures, troubleshooting hardware or software issues, providing oversight of audio and video applications, and rural Alaska travel. Your department will collaborate with other University IT counterparts, and you will fill in for the Systems Administrator during their absence with items such as Security, Networking, and other IT infrastructure.

Applicants must possess excellent communication, public relations, and customer service skills, including a strong command of the English language, both written and verbal, and the ability to work in a diverse environment of students, faculty, and staff. Ability to interpret customer requests for assistance and provide appropriate solutions and instruction. Excellent teamwork skills are essential. Applicants must provide appropriate solutions and instruction and must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Must be able to lift, maneuver, and transport departmental equipment, restock printers, and transport paper and supplies to another site.

Minimum Qualifications:

One year of college coursework and at least two years experience in computer troubleshooting and applications or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

An unrestricted Alaska driver’s license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving criteria is required.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Chukchi campus in Kotzebue, AK. This is a full-time, 10-month, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience.
