The UAF Student Leadership and Involvement Office is looking for students who are passionate about getting involved on and off campus to assist with student organizations as well as planning student leadership and community service initiatives.
Ideal candidates will have a genuine interest in student leadership development, campus involvement and volunteerism. They will also possess excellent organizational skills, computer skills and a desire to promote leadership, involvement and volunteer experience opportunities to fellow students.

SLI Mission:
The mission of the UAF SLI program is to cultivate effective leaders for Alaska by creating and supporting a rich variety of student leadership development opportunities, partnering with academic departments and the community, and recognizing successful student leadership.

SLI Vision:
SLI aims to provide tools, training, and support to UAF students to assist them in becoming agents of positive change in their communities. Through leadership, volunteer experience, and student involvement opportunities, the SLI program at UAF seeks to develop leadership in individuals, groups, and communities to foster a lifelong commitment to socially responsible leadership.

Position Requirements:
Ability to work up to 20 hours a week, including occasional evenings and weekends. Telephone and interactive communication skills; organizational skills; familiarity with basic computer applications. Must give a favorable impression to the public in appearance and behavior; adapt to changes in workload; work independently with limited supervision and in cooperation with other employees; possess attention to detail/organizational skills, be able to multitask and handle difficult/stressful situations with diplomacy and finesse; abide by all local and state laws and University regulations.

Administrative Support: data entry; answering phone calls; responding to emails; assisting in writing reports; maintaining the Nanook Engage page.

Other Duties as Assigned: Work closely with other areas within the Center for Student Engagement and collaborate with other campus and community partners.

Center for Student Engagement Mission:
Develop the whole student by creating connections to UAF and the surrounding communities through a variety of programs, services, and opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicant must be enrolled as a UAF student taking a minimum of 6 credits per semester with a minimum GPA of 2.0 or a newly enrolled student.

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Fairbanks.

This is a Student Assistant 2 Position, minimum starting pay is $14.96 per hour. 

This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year.
