We are seeking a dynamic individual to operate simulation technology and assist with operations in our simulation center. The ideal candidate will have effective troubleshooting skills related to technology, an interest in higher education and healthcare, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams. We continue to develop and grow our simulation capabilities for the training of future professionals.

As a simulation specialist, you will be part of a dedicated team of professionals helping to facilitate immersive, realistic learning experiences for students and members of the community. You would operate and maintain high-fidelity manikins, facilitate learning experiences with VR goggles, operate AV technology, and more. Connecting students with opportunities for meaningful learning helps to improve their skills and advance the health and well-being of people and communities. If you are interested in connecting students with hands-on, experiential learning opportunities using the latest technology, this could be the role for you!

To thrive in this role, you would demonstrate effective problem solving skills related to computer software, VR Goggles, computer firmware, and technology and be willing to learn new things on an ongoing basis. You would have an interest in higher education and developing future professionals. You would be detail oriented and enjoy collaborating with others. You would also have an interest in healthcare and be willing to learn medical terminology. You would also demonstrate adaptability, teamwork, and strong communication skills. Please note that this position requires lifting 100-120 pound manikins with assistance of one other person as well as pushing and pulling beds.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate degree in technology, computer science, education, or a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience required. Experience in healthcare or biomedical technology is also helpful.

One year experience in healthcare simulation and/or training.

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience.
