We are seeking a highly organized and strategic Senior Project Manager to play a key role in advancing statewide workforce development and University of Alaska (UA) Board of Regents (BOR) initiatives. In this position, you will work closely with the Associate Vice President (AVP) of Workforce Development to lead projects that support priorities established by the UA BOR. Your work will directly contribute to strengthening education pathways that address Alaska’s evolving labor market needs—impacting industries, communities, and future generations.
The Associate Vice President of Workforce Development provides strategic leadership in aligning the University of Alaska’s programs with current and emerging workforce priorities. This role encompasses planning, policy development, administration, and the analysis of workforce data to guide program development, decision-making, and investments. Through close collaboration with state agencies, industry partners, and educational institutions, the AVP works to expand access to postsecondary training opportunities that meet Alaska’s unique economic and labor demands.
To thrive in this role, the successful candidate should bring strong project management expertise with the ability to lead complex initiatives from planning through completion, particularly in workforce development and technical education. They should be a strategic thinker and effective communicator, capable of working independently and collaboratively across diverse internal and external stakeholder groups. Exceptional organizational and analytical skills are essential, along with the ability to interpret and apply complex regulations, manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment, and identify opportunities for process improvement. Proficiency with office productivity tools, attention to detail, and a commitment to high-quality communication through digital and written platforms will support success in this multifaceted position.

Work location may be: primarily remote/telework within Alaska; on-site at a university campus in Anchorage, Fairbanks, or Juneau; or a hybrid. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and a full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 80, based on education and experience.
