The University of Alaska Fairbanks Chukchi Campus in Kotzebue, Alaska is searching for a Receptionist and Administrative Assistant to join the Chukchi Campus team. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about higher education, career, and technical education and working with students, someone who has exemplary organizational skills and is a team player. The perfect candidate will have excellent communication skills, be flexible, have experience working with our local population, and potentially travel to the villages in the region.
The Receptionist and Administrative Assistant will interact in person or by phone with students, staff, faculty, and the public at the front desk of the Chukchi Campus, College of Indigenous Studies. This position will serve as the office receptionist and assist with administrative support.
To thrive in this role, the applicant must have a passion for higher education and student success. Demonstrated experience in working with individuals from diverse academic, cultural, and economic backgrounds. Knowledge of Alaska Native cultures. Previous experience working with Alaska Native organizations and an understanding of Alaska Native student experiences, programs, and all related Alaska Native resources available at UAF preferred. Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills, including active listening skills and a willingness to initiate dialogue. Strong oral and written communication skills. Sound professional judgment and discretion. Excellent computer skills with various software programs, including databases, spreadsheets, and word processing programs (BANNER; Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; and Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides preferred) and social media platforms. The Receptionist and Administrative Assistant must be able to work independently and as a member of a larger, collaborative team in a fast-paced environment and complex organizational structure.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s degree and one-year relevant experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Position Details:
This position is located on the Chukchi campus in Kotzebue, AK. It is a 10-month, full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental, and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience.
