The Mining and Petroleum Training Service (MAPTS) is recruiting for a program manager capable of managing purchases, grant reports and budgets, timely and with high accuracy. This position highlights a technological requirement for candidates who are comfortable utilizing Google apps or similar software platforms. Ultimately, the position targets an independent, detail-oriented individual looking to take ownership of administrative and financial workflows within an organization that provides industry-specific training for Alaskans. This role requires a proactive professional who can operate effectively with limited supervision or direction while managing essential fiscal records and handling day-to-day decisions independently. The hired individual will be specifically responsible for authorizing expenditures, monitoring ongoing fiscal activity, and managing the overall budget. Additionally, the position serves an organization known for delivering critical industry services, including industry training camps, MSHA compliance, and IADC certification for Well Control for oil and gas professionals.

To excel in this role, the ideal candidate must be a reliable, responsible, and proactive professional who thrives under limited supervision. Success requires a strong background in financial oversight, specifically the ability to forecast expenditures accurately and manage complex grant reports. Finally, an individual will thrive by seamlessly blending administrative competence in Google apps with the communication skills necessary to support Alaska's specialized industrial training sector.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in relevant field and 2 years of comparable experience and training, or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental subjects.
Knowledge of accounting theory and generally accepted accounting procedures.
Knowledge of grant administration.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Kenai Peninsula campus in Soldotna, Alaska, and requires on-site work. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
