The Alaska Climate Adaptation Science Center (AK CASC) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Program Coordinator to support our mission of advancing climate adaptation research and partnerships across Alaska. In this dynamic role, you will manage and track research projects, coordinate communications across a diverse network of scientists and partners, and contribute to reporting and outreach that connects science with society.

As Program Coordinator, you will oversee research program reporting processes, maintain organized records of project activities and outcomes, and support leadership with federal and congressional relations. You will also serve as a hub for internal communication—maintaining research databases, scheduling and facilitating meetings and workshops, onboarding new staff and affiliates, and strengthening team collaboration. In addition, you will assist with writing and publishing research findings for multiple audiences, contributing to branding, outreach, and events that elevate the visibility and impact of AK CASC science.

The ideal candidate brings strong organizational and communication skills, experience managing complex data and reporting systems, and the ability to build positive working relationships in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment. This position is well-suited for someone who enjoys both detailed program management and big-picture coordination, and who is excited to play a key role in supporting climate adaptation research that makes a difference for Alaska’s communities and ecosystems.

To thrive in this role, the Program Coordinator should bring experience in research program administration, including tracking progress, evaluating outcomes, and meeting reporting requirements. Strong organizational skills are needed to manage digital records, research databases, and reporting processes. Just as important are strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with researchers, staff, and partners in both in-person and virtual settings. The role also involves designing simple systems and procedures to improve team operations, supporting onboarding, and contributing to reports and communications for diverse audiences, including federal partners. Success in this position will require adaptability, attention to detail, and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-moving research environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and six months experience in a field relevant to the research (e.g. science, math, business), or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A valid Alaska driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving criteria.
