Parking Services is responsible for issuing parking permits and enforcing university parking rules and regulations on the UAA Main Campus. Parking Services strives to provide adequate parking for all constituents & works with other campus departments to maintain safe, well-lit parking lots, parking garages, pedestrian multi-use trails and campus bus stops. Parking Services manages all aspects of campus access including parking permit sales, parking enforcement, the UAA Safety Services Call Team, alternative transportation programs and funds the Seawolf Shuttle through collection of a student transportation fee. This position will work primarily with the campus community to provide superior customer service related to all aspects of Parking Services. 

This position is responsible for providing superior customer service related to all areas of Parking Services. Qualified candidate will resolve customer conflicts by applying parking policies and procedures in a constructive manner. Candidate must have the ability to effectively relay information by a variety of methods to explain directions, rules, and regulations. This position occasionally calls for work in inclement conditions, and standing for several hours at a time. Candidate must be able to complete data entry using a computer.

To be successful in this role, you should possess strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to manage emails across multiple accounts. Excellent customer service skills are essential, along with experience in cash handling and reconciliation. Strong interpersonal communication skills are key to effectively working with customers in person, while your ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations, such as when customers become frustrated or upset, will help ensure positive outcomes. Additionally, a strong aptitude for conflict resolution is important for maintaining a productive and respectful environment.

To thrive in this role, the successful candidate will have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and at least one year of customer service experience, or a similar combination of training and experience. A valid, current driver’s license is also required. Additionally, at least one year of related experience, specifically involving customer service, is a must.

Ideal candidate has minimum 6 months experience with cash handling, inventory control, computer hardware/software skills and minimum 1 year customer service experience with conflict resolution and negotiation experience preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school graduation and one year customer service experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must possess a current and valid driver’s license.

High school diploma or equivalent and valid Alaska driver's license is preferred (must meet and maintain UAA safe driver verification criteria).

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience.
