  • On Campus
  • Staff Full-time
  • Grade 78
  • UAF Student Services

Do you thrive in a dynamic, mission-driven environment where your organizational skills make a difference every day? We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented professional to support daily operations in the Office of Rights, Compliance and Accountability (ORCA).

In this pivotal role, you’ll serve as the main point of contact for the ORCA office, greeting and connecting folks who come into the office requesting help. You'll manage calendars, coordinating case intake, preparing official materials, and ensuring timely responses to sensitive and impactful matters. From handling confidential case files and compliance reports to overseeing daily office operations and helping shape strategic initiatives, you’ll be at the heart of a team committed to upholding fairness, dignity, and access for all.

You’ll also lead triage of reports, support federally mandated trainings, manage digital systems like Maxient, and play a key role in tracking timelines and improving office systems. Your ability to maintain confidentiality, think strategically, and communicate with empathy will help ensure the university remains a safe, inclusive, and legally compliant environment.

This is more than an administrative role—it’s a chance to be part of something bigger. If you care about civil rights, behavioral intervention and CARE and want to contribute to real institutional change, we’d love to hear from you.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need to be a highly organized and adaptable professional with exceptional customer service skills and a strong sense of discretion. A calm, steady demeanor and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions are essential, as is the capacity to assess urgency and respond with sound judgment. You should be proficient with standard office technologies and software, capable of managing complex filing systems, and comfortable troubleshooting routine tech issues. Success in this position also depends on your ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, maintain strict confidentiality, and navigate sensitive or emotionally charged situations with empathy and professionalism. Self-motivation, ethical integrity, and the flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities will serve you well in this dynamic and impactful role.

Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires an associate’s degree and at least two years of progressively responsible experience related to the program specialty, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years working in an office environment, including experience maintaining confidential files and serving as a receptionist or primary front office contact. At least one year of experience managing and researching information within electronic filing or accounting systems is essential, along with two years of demonstrated success handling sensitive and emotionally charged situations in a confidential setting.  As the position often requires specialized knowledge and serves as a resource on regulatory matters, familiarity with institutional, state, and federal compliance standards—as well as professional organization guidelines —is critical. The complexity of the work may also increase depending on the functional areas overseen or supported.

Position Details:

This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience.

Applications will be accepted for review on August 7, 2025, to ensure consideration, please apply by 11:55 PM, Alaska Standard Time on DAY BEFORE REVIEW DATE (8/6/2025).
