This position is responsible for onboarding online and non-traditional learners and maintaining their engagement throughout their academic journey. The Specialist will guide prospective students from initial inquiry through the matriculation process, serving as their primary point of contact until they are ready for advising. Additionally, the position fosters community engagement by organizing and promoting events that connect online and non-traditional students with faculty, peers, and campus resources, enhancing their overall student experience. This is a Fairbanks-based position with options for flexible and remote work. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing eCampus’ mission to deliver high-quality, interactive educational experiences to students in Alaska and beyond.

Knowledge of recruitment and engagement principles and practices. Ability to comprehend, interpret and apply university curriculum, policies and procedures as they relate to students and faculty. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing and establish/maintain a professional working relationship with students, unit, university and UA system colleagues. Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment.

To thrive in this position, the candidate must excel at guiding prospective online students through all stages of the enrollment process by providing clear and accurate information about programs, financial aid, and UAF support services. They should be skilled in building a community of student engagement and creating opportunities for meaningful interaction among students, faculty, and campus resources. The candidate will need to have experience using data informed practices to continuously improve student communication and community-building initiatives. Additionally, the ideal candidate must be able to quickly adapt to a dynamic environment, demonstrating strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building abilities across diverse audiences.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Position Details:

This position is located on the UAF campus in Fairbanks. This is a full-time, hybrid, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
