Do you enjoy interacting with many different types of people? Do you like to share your love of Alaska? If so, this may be the perfect job for you. As a museum attendant, you'll create a welcoming environment for our guests, generating retail sales and enhancing the museum experience. This position requires friendly customer service, a knowledge of or excitement for the diversity of Alaska's cultures, natural resources, and history. Strong ability in verbal communication and some cash handling experience required.

The Museum Attendant is a representative of the Maxine and Jesse Whitney Museum and Prince William Sound College. The responsibilities of this position include maintaining and presenting the collection to the public, encouraging public and students' interest in the natural and cultural history of Alaska, and assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Whitney Museum. The position is seasonal and will operate from May 6, 2025 to August 30, 2025.

This role is ideal for someone with an interest in Alaska's natural and cultural history. You will be representing a unique collection of Alaskan history to a visiting public from around the world. Enthusiasm for history as well as a gift for storytelling are welcome attributes. A willingness to engage public questions and an attentive responsibility to the care of the collection are also highly encouraged.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school graduation or equivalent.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Prince William Sound College campus in Valdez, Alaska. This is a part-time, non-exempt temporary staff position.
