Mat-Su College is seeking a student employee to assist the campus library during the 2024-2025 academic year. This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic team.

This position provides support to library staff Monday-Friday. The anticipated workload is approximately 20 hours per week. Our greatest need for help is between the hours of 11 am and 5 pm Tuesday through Thursday; however, that is not necessarily the required work schedule. We can adjust the successful applicant’s work schedule around their classes. The library is open more hours than most of the other departments on campus, so we can offer greater flexibility.

To thrive in this role, the individual should possess good written, communication, organizational, & interpersonal skills; be detail-oriented, ability to alphabetize proficiently. They should also possess basic typing skills & knowledge of computer operation. Some lifting is required for this position.

Primary duties are to process material shipments to and from other libraries, perform shelving and shelf reading according to the Library of Congress Classification System, and shift sections of the collection when necessary to avoid overcrowding.

Minimum Qualifications:

Student employee positions require maintaining a minimum enrollment of 6 credits or more within the University of Alaska System and a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.

Position Details:

This is a student employee position, located at Mat-Su College in Palmer, Alaska. This is a part-time, temporary student position with a starting pay of $13.55 hourly. Hours are limited to 20 per week maximum during instructional periods of the academic year with the flexibility of up to 40 per week during summer or non-instructional periods.

This is a pooled position, open until filled. Applications will be reviewed beginning January 6, 2025.
