🏊 Nanook Recreation is looking for UAF students to join our Lifeguard team to work at the Patty Pool. Flexible shifts are available, so apply today!

UAF Student Lifeguards work in the Patty Center Pool during condition swims, recreational swims, high school practices, masters practices, and private rentals. Typical duties include: monitor and enforce proper safety rules and activities in swimming area; perform lifesaving and first aid procedures as appropriate for the situation; provide routine clean-up, sanitizing, and general maintenance in pool and locker room areas; perform chlorine and PH water testing, and complete daily attendance and revenue reports as instructed.

Lifeguards are expected to have life guarding and CPR Certifications. Qualified candidates must be able to demonstrate all lifesaving and first aid skills required by the position. Lifeguards are expected to interact with pool users in a pleasant, tactful, and courteous manner.

Lifeguards work independently as part of a very important team, therefore are expected to have strong organization skills. The Lifeguard team has support from the staff at Nanook Recreation.

Minimum Qualifications:

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification and CPR/AED for Lifeguards Certification.

Position Details:

This is a part-time, student position. Starting rate is $13.55 an hour.

Nanook Recreation is willing to train applicants depending on lifeguard certification class availability, applicants with Water Safety Instructor or equivalent lifeguard experience are preferred.

This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year.
