Kenai Peninsula College Library is seeking a dedicated and service-oriented Library Technician to join our team. This temporary, part-time position is for 20 hours per week, typically scheduled Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 1:00pm, with occasional adjustments to ensure adequate library coverage and meet service demands. The position is temporary and will end on May 9th, 2026.

As a Library Technician, you will provide essential library services in an educational setting, acting as a bridge between students, faculty, and information resources. You will interact daily with college students, faculty, and staff, supporting their academic and research needs.

Your primary responsibilities will include managing circulation and access services, such as checking materials in and out, processing holds, shelving books, and assisting patrons with account issues. You will also answer library phones, take messages, and help patrons locate and retrieve library materials. Additionally, you will inform patrons about library services and assist students, faculty, and researchers in accessing scholarly resources and academic support.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school graduation and one year of related experience required
  • Good understanding of computer applications
  • Excellent customer relations and communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and reliability
  • Respect for library users and a commitment to student success and lifelong learning

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong technology skills, including experience with integrated library systems and academic databases
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in an academic or public library setting; knowledge of academic databases and scholarly information systems

Position Details:

This position is located on the Kenai Peninsula College campus in Soldotna. This is a part-time, non-exempt, temporary staff position starting at $16.15 per hour.
