Rasmuson Library is currently looking for students for our Circulation counter for check-in and check-out, book-stacks maintenance, and patron assistance. Up to 20 hours per week during the academic year with various shifts available that may include evenings and weekends.

Under the general direction of Circulation Supervisors, must have the ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow written and oral instructions; ability to file alphanumerically; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

This is a non-supervisory position in which you will encounter minor problems daily and occasional difficult ones which a Circulation Supervisor will be required for help and instruction.

Responsible person with ability to work with minimal supervision and perform detailed, monotonous work with a high degree of accuracy. Strong attention to detail. Flexibility to learn a variety of tasks and work with multiple departments. Ability to maintain confidentiality and conduct self in accordance with University Regulations and Alaska Library Statutes.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must be currently enrolled as a UAF student taking a minimum of 6 credits per semester with a minimum GPA of 2.0 or a newly enrolled student.
Demonstrate the highest level of integrity and confidentiality.
Possess strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
Able to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with individuals from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Possess the ability to be proactive and work independently.
Proficient in Google applications, with the ability to learn new software quickly.

Position Details:

This recruitment is open to undergraduate students only.

This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Fairbanks.  This is a part-time, student assistant position, starting rate of $15.57/per hour

  • Sunday: 1:00pm - 9:00pm
  • Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 9:00pm
  • Friday: 8:00am - 6:00pm
  • Saturday: 12:00pm -  6:00pm
