As an International Services Coordinator, you’ll help UAF’s diverse international student, scholar, and employee population by advising on complex regulations and policies, issuing immigration documents, processing immigration record updates, and coordinating events. This is a 12-month term position based in Fairbanks at the UAF campus. Remote work is not authorized for this position. Additionally, this
position has no components of study abroad or international student recruitment. Must be a US Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident as mandated by the Department of Homeland Security.

The International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) is dedicated to serving the University of Alaska Fairbanks' (UAF) international community. Our goal is to assist international students, scholars, and employees in successfully accomplishing their academic and personal objectives. The incumbent provides the full range of immigration services to students and scholars and serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) and an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO); maintains in-depth, advanced knowledge to interpret and provide guidance on federal immigration regulations as they pertain to our international populations. ISSS is a fast-paced, team-oriented service office.

To thrive in this role we are looking for someone with a diverse community in a higher education setting and has a strong attention to detail and accuracy in preparing immigration documentation and reports. The Coordinator will collaborate within a team, synthesize information from multiple sources to provide accurate immigration advice.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience in working in a college or university setting.

Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident as mandated by the Department of Homeland Security.

Position Details:

This is a full-time, term-funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience.

This position is a term-funded position and is reviewed annually for contract renewal at the University's discretion.
