This position is part of Educators Rising Alaska (EdRising)—a national teacher and student-led movement dedicated to growing the next generation of educators. With school-based chapters across the country, EdRising gives students the opportunity to practice real classroom skills while ensuring their voices are heard in national conversations about education.

In Alaska, our mission is to foster excellence by supporting students from middle school through college as they explore careers in education. We strive to inspire young people from every corner of the state—rural and urban alike—by nurturing their passion for teaching, leadership, and service. Together, we are building a strong pipeline of future educators, administrators, counselors, aides, and school staff who will strengthen Alaska’s communities. As Programs & Competitions Coordinator, you’ll help bring this mission to life by creating transformative experiences that empower students to lead, learn, and envision themselves as the educators of tomorrow.

In this position, you’ll experience the excitement of helping students discover their potential and grow into confident leaders. From organizing statewide competitions where students showcase their talents, to coordinating the State Leadership Conference and national travel, you’ll see firsthand the pride and inspiration that comes when students achieve something they never thought possible.

You’ll also play a vital role in mentoring student officers—guiding them through elections, leadership training, and statewide initiatives—watching them develop the confidence, voice, and skills to make a real impact in their schools and communities. Every event, every competition, and every milestone you support contributes to creating life-changing opportunities for students across Alaska.

This is more than a job—it’s a chance to empower young people, celebrate their successes, and know that your work directly shapes the leaders of tomorrow.
