The director of development will lead an $8 million annual fundraising program and lead a team of 11 development professionals. This team includes five senior development officers, a chief philanthropy officer, a senior strategic development officer, an annual giving manager, a donor relations manager and two strategic development coordinators. The director will cultivate a collaborative, high-performing team culture that aligns with university-wide advancement goals. This leader will work closely with the University of Alaska Foundation, University Relations, Alumni Relations and institutional leadership to execute strategies to grow and sustain private support. To thrive in this role, the director of development will bring a strong record of leading successful annual and capital campaigns, along with a deep knowledge of best practices for higher education fundraising. The ideal candidate will have a flair for building high performing teams, through a combination of mentorship, professional development and training and clear accountability. They will bring a strong work ethic and a genuine passion for donor-centered philanthropy.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum of 7-10 years in development or progressively responsible fundraising experience, including major gift fundraising, with at least 5 years in a leadership position.

Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, business, public administration or relevant field and Minimum of 7 years in development or progressively responsible fundraising experience, including major gift fundraising, with at least 5 years in a leadership position.

Masters preferred.

Advanced knowledge of philanthropic support, fundraising and donor relations.

Position Details:

This position is located at the University of Alaska campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, exempt staff on campus position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 84, based on education and experience.
