Mat-Su College, an extended campus of UAA, is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Director of Administrative Services.
The Administrative Services department provides guidance for the college regarding all aspects of financial management. The department has responsibilities associated with budgeting and accounting, including grant and contract management, accounts receivable, procurement, accounts payable, travel, asset management, timesheet processing, human resources, and reconciliation (purchases, deposits, general ledger, and scholarship funds). The department also provides guidance on current laws and regulations and university policy regarding fiscal matters.
This position reports to the College Director and is responsible for the effective administration of all services and departmental matters for Administrative Services. The Director of Administrative Services provides strategic leadership within Administrative Services and supervises all personnel and functions within the department. This position works closely with administrative leadership to ensure Mat-Su College remains fiscally responsible. This position also fulfills compliance related tasks.
As a member of Mat-Su College’s executive team, this position participates in setting direction and advocating for Matanuska-Susitna College, promoting the college as an active participant in the area's economic development and a principal contributor in the quality of life in the community. The Director of Administrative Services also serves in an advisory capacity for budgetary and all fiscal matters to the College Director and all college departments.
To thrive in this role, the individual will possess knowledge of industry standards for a variety of financial management and accounting areas. The ability to advocate, communicate, lead, and mediate effectively with others is essential. The ideal candidate will exhibit expert planning and budgeting skills and possess the ability to analyze complex information. The ability to manage projects and develop, forecast, maintain, and report on budgets, is essential. Furthermore, a demonstrated commitment to the community campus mission within a wider university system, knowledge of and ability to implement university policies, procedures, and processes, as well as rules, regulations and laws relating to financial and accounting practices, is helpful for this position. Knowledge of contract administration and granting processes is also helpful.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and six years progressively responsible experience including supervisory duties, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Advanced degree preferred. Six years progressively responsible fiscal management experience, including supervisory experience, preferably in government / non-profit fund accounting.
Position Details:
This position is located on the Matanuska Susitna campus in Palmer, Alaska. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 82, based on education and experience.
