The University of Alaska Anchorage's Financial Services unit is accepting applications for the position of Accounts Payable and Travel Director. The Accounts Payable and Travel department provides mission-critical services that support the business functions of the university. The UAA Accounts Payable and Travel Director is responsible to manage all aspects of outgoing university payments and business travel, including compliance with various federal, state, and university regulations. The director manages a small team of fiscal professionals, providing training, setting goals, and managing performance.

To thrive in this role, the ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and previous experience working in the accounts payable or similar field. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, federal regulations regarding business travel, IRS Forms 1099 and 1042, or ability to become familiar within 6 months of hire is required. Previous experience in a supervisory role is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and 5 years progressively responsible professional or management fiscal experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Knowledge of GAAP and Alaska/Federal regulations? A Master’s degree or professional licensure preferred (e.g. CPA, CFM).

Position Details:

This position is physically located on the Anchorage campus; on-site work is required. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 82, based on education and experience.
