Kenai Peninsula College is seeking a full-time Digital Media Technician to help faculty create accessible course materials—everything from lecture videos and screencasts to accessible PDFs and online course documents. This position also serves as our primary accessibility technician, training and supporting staff in creating accessible digital content.
The Digital Media Technician is an entry level position. You’ll spend your day helping faculty record videos, troubleshoot microphones, fix captions, run accessibility audits on course materials, training faculty and staff on accessible document creation, and keeping our media spaces organized and welcoming. You'll work with cameras, OBS, Adobe Creative Cloud, accessibility tools like Blackboard Ally, and our learning management system to help instructors produce and remediate clear, accessible materials for online and hybrid courses.
We're looking for someone who enjoys both the tech and the people. You should be comfortable explaining how to set up a ring light to a nervous first-time recorder, running accessibility reports and training faculty or staff on remediation, doing light video editing (trimming clips, cleaning up audio, adding captions), and tracking accessibility compliance across the college. You'll troubleshoot everyday issues and provide training—but you won't be expected to solve everything alone; complex problems get escalated.
You'll thrive here if you're a curious learner who picks up new tools quickly, communicates clearly with diverse faculty and staff, and genuinely enjoys helping people teach well with technology. We're looking for someone welcoming, patient, and practical—committed to helping others create digital materials that are clear, inclusive, and accessible.
Helpful experience includes: OBS or screen capture tools, Adobe Creative Cloud, Blackboard or another LMS, and digital accessibility practices (WCAG 2.1 AA, captions, alt text, document structure). But if you're a fast learner with solid tech fundamentals and a service mindset, we'd love to hear from you.
