Kenai Peninsula College is seeking a skilled Maintenance Service Worker III to join our facilities team. This part-time, 30-hour per week, non-exempt position is essential for maintaining our campus facilities and providing a clean, safe environment for our college community.
The Maintenance Service Worker III provides comprehensive custodial and maintenance services across campus. This includes performing floor maintenance (sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, carpet cleaning, stripping, and waxing), removing trash, and operating maintenance vehicles and equipment. The position involves routine maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and air filters, lubricating mechanical equipment, and safely handling biohazard cleanup. The role encompasses grounds maintenance including lawn care, plant maintenance, and snow/ice removal from walkways and parking lots. Additional responsibilities include operating hand tools and motorized equipment, managing inventory through computerized systems, and monitoring boiler systems. The successful candidate may occasionally lead other maintenance staff and will perform other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate possesses strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with good written and oral communication abilities. They should be able to read and interpret maintenance documents, complete administrative tasks in both paper and digital formats, and demonstrate proficiency with custodial tools and equipment. Experience with commercial cleaning, grounds maintenance, safe chemical handling, and biohazard procedures is essential. The position requires the ability to lift up to 70 pounds, work flexible schedules including mornings, evenings, and weekends, and maintain a current Alaska driver's license with a good driving record.
Minimum Qualifications:
Certificate of Completion from technical school and a minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Applicant must possess a current, unrestricted Alaska driver's license or be able to obtain an unrestricted Alaska driver's license within 60 days of accepting the job.

Position Details:
This position is located on the Kenai Peninsula College campus in Soldotna. This is a part-time, term-funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. This position is a term-funded position and is reviewed annually for contract renewal at the University's discretion.
