Located on the campus of The University of Alaska Anchorage, AAC is a stunning 196,000 square foot facility that seats up to 5,000 spectators. AAC is home to the UAA Seawolves Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Volleyball, and Gymnastics programs. In addition, the AAC hosts music superstars in concert, world class comedians, family shows, and corporate and community events that bring the community together. This part-time position is an essential part of creating memorable experiences for event attendees.
As a Crowd Management member at the Alaska Airlines Center (AAC), you will play a pivotal role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for all events hosted at the AAC. Responsibilities include but are not limited to overseeing the smooth ingress and egress of attendees, implementing emergency response protocols, and ensuring strict adherence to venue and university policies. To thrive as a Crowd Management member at the Alaska Airlines Center, individuals should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with diverse groups of people. Patience, tact, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are crucial, as crowd management often involves handling various situations with professionalism and efficiency. Prior experience in law enforcement, military, event management or security, along with a keen awareness of safety protocols and emergency procedures, as well as the ability to enforce building and university policies would be valuable assets in ensuring a smooth and secure environment for both staff and attendees at the Alaska Airlines Center.
Minimum Qualifications:
Be at least 21 years old (age requirement to comply with state alcohol regulations).
Active TAPS certification, or ability to get certification before first day of work.
Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
Possess strong physical fitness and the ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
Previous experience in event security, law enforcement, military, or a related field.
Exhibit excellent observational and problem-solving skills to identify and address potential issues.
Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations and handle confrontational or challenging individuals.
Ability to successfully pass a background check.
Maintain flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedule.
Position Details:
This is a part-time, non-exempt temporary staff position located on the UAA campus in Anchorage. New hires will be placed on the UA temporary staff salary schedule, Grade 77.
This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire year.
Salary: $20.47/hour
