Alaska 4-H staff are community-based academic professionals of the University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service. They are a link between the land grant University research and Alaska residents by creating learning opportunities that address local needs.

This position leads, manages and stewards the full range of Positive Youth Development programming in the municipality of Anchorage. 4-H Program Coordinators work collaboratively with youth, volunteers, community partners, and University faculty/staff to reach two overarching program goals: Youth will learn by developing a passion in their areas of interest; Youth will lead by being innovators and social change agents.

4-H Program Coordinators ensure program quality, growth, retention, and impact. They also:
Build relationships with youth, parents, volunteers, partners and stakeholders
Recruit, train, supervise and support volunteers
Plan, manage, deliver, and evaluate educational programs and events
Develop outreach and educational materials
Teach and provide information to youth, volunteers, and community youth workers
Promote and market the 4-H Youth Development program
Provide financial guidance to clubs

This position requires expertise in course development methods, training principles, and the use of appropriate equipment and materials to deliver impactful learning experiences. The candidate will be involved in advancing the mission of UAF, Cooperative Extension Service, and 4-H Positive Youth Development through effective program delivery. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to provide excellent customer service and proficiency in software applications like Google Suite, social media tools, and Microsoft Office. The successful candidate will have hands-on subject matter expertise and be able to apply knowledge in their specialty area to conduct classroom training, workshops, and seminars. They will need to plan and organize events, operate audiovisual equipment for presentations, and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and participants. Flexibility with work hours, including some nights and weekends, is required, as well as the ability to travel throughout the Anchorage 4-H District.

To be successful in this position the applicant must be able to engage both youth and adults in experiential learning opportunities in a variety of community based settings. They will thrive if they are comfortable speaking in front of groups and working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds. A self-motivated individual with work experience in planning, program marketing with an eye for detail will find great success in our dynamic Alaska statewide 4-H program.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates degree in a related field or equivalent combination of training and experience
Possesses unrestricted work authorization.
A valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria is required.

Position Details:

This position is located in Anchorage Alaska. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience.
