As the Center for Economic Development (CED) Research and Data Manager, this position leads and manages data-driven components of the CED technical assistance projects, supporting Alaska’s tribes, nonprofits, businesses, and government agencies. Responsibilities include developing client scopes of work, conducting complex quantitative and qualitative analyses, producing financial projections, and delivering actionable insights through reports, tools, and visualizations. The role advances statewide economic development efforts through research, stakeholder engagement, and outreach, while also improving data literacy and accessibility. Additional duties include program development, client outreach, financial planning, internal process improvement, and oversight of student employees or interns. The position collaborates closely with internal teams and external partners to support the University’s mission in community and economic development across Alaska.
To thrive in this position, the successful candidate is responsible for developing and maintaining databases, providing consultation services in areas of expertise, identifying areas for additional funding and process improvements, conducting research, ensuring data and research integrity, analyzing data for decision-making, managing the research process across team members, using data to advise project staff on a variety of topic areas, creating reports and presentations for dissemination, and communicating research findings to a broad cross-section of stakeholders. This position has increasingly supported BEI and CED team members in remaining compliant with IT, Travel, and other UAA/UA policies and procedures, including making recommendations to internal policies and practices. In carrying out this responsibility, the CED economic analyst works closely with the CED director and other staff, the University of Alaska Anchorage Business Enterprise Institute suite of programs, and other contract personnel retained to support CED programs and services. This position is likewise expected to collaborate closely with Alaska’s economic development districts, regional development organizations, private sector partners, elected officials, NGOs, and the other EDA University Centers nationwide.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and five years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Position Details:
This position is located on the Anchorage campus. This is a term-funded, full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 80, based on education and experience.
