Kenai Peninsula College is seeking a Career Navigator to empower at-risk out-of-school youth (ages 16-24) in the WIOA Title I Youth and Title II Alaska Adult Education programs. This is a role where you'll help participants overcome barriers, transition to education or training, and secure sustainable employment.

As a key member of the Learning Center team, the Career Navigator will work closely with youth/young adults, guiding them through 15 Elements, including educational planning, job readiness, GED acquisition, and career exploration. We meet participants where they are at educationally to facilitate a successful transition to postsecondary education (be it inside or outside the UA System), training, and/or sustainable employment. You'll support participants in both group and one-on-one settings, helping them set and achieve goals. A significant focus will be on recruiting, managing case files, and ensuring accurate reporting for internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities involve recruiting participants for WIOA programs, conducting intakes, and creating personalized education and career plans. The position requires providing guidance and mentorship to help participants achieve academic and employment goals. It also includes promoting work experience opportunities and building relationships with community partners, job training programs, and schools. Regular communication with participants is essential for tracking progress and offering continued support after program completion. Additionally, the role involves managing administrative tasks such as case documentation, follow-ups, and ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.

The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of the challenges faced by at-risk youth and the ability to provide personalized guidance and support. Excellent communication skills are essential, including the capacity to develop original training materials and collaborate effectively with community partners. The role also requires the ability to navigate regulations, analyze data, and maintain professionalism in handling sensitive situations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Three years of experience (or a combination of education and experience) in education, counseling, human services, job training, or related field.

Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

An unrestricted Alaska driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving criteria is required.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Kenai Peninsula College campus in Soldotna, Alaska. This is a full-time, non-exempt, term staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 78, starting at $25.11 based on education and experience.
