The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) is seeking an experienced and dedicated Administrative Assistant to support the Dean’s Office. This position plays a key role in ensuring efficient business operations and high-quality faculty and administrative services. Applicants who are detail-oriented, collaborative, and committed to providing exceptional administrative support are encouraged to apply.

To thrive in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups, and to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. The successful candidate will communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and exercise sound judgment, and possess understanding of organizational structure. Experience supporting upper-level leadership is a plus, along with the ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.

This position requires the ability to comprehend and interpret written materials and apply applicable policies, rules, and regulations, including the UNAC Collective Bargaining Agreement and UA Board of Regents policies. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time-management skills are essential. The successful candidate will be able to prepare technically and grammatically accurate correspondence and demonstrate proficiency with Google Workspace (Calendar, Drive, Docs, and Groups), Zoom, and relational databases to efficiently schedule, coordinate, and communicate with leadership, faculty, staff and students.

Minimum Qualifications
An Associate’s degree and two years of progressively responsible experience related to the program specialty, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria is required.

Position Details
This full-time, non-exempt staff position is physically located on the UAF Troth Yeddha’ Campus in Fairbanks. The position offers a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience.
