Kenai Peninsula College (KPC) invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Process Technology faculty position located at its Kenai River Campus, effective January 2026. The successful candidate will teach 100-and 200-level courses in the areas of process technology, industrial instrumentation and other related areas, and advise students in PRT related areas.

To thrive in this role, you must have strong interpersonal and communication skills to advise and communicate technical content and training to non-engineering students through modalities ranging from face-to-face classes to online teaching. You will have knowledge of KPC’s PRT AAS degree program. Your process operating experience will include upstream, or downstream oil & amp; gas operations, chemical, refining, or power production and experience in process control applications.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in appropriate/related discipline, OR Associate degree and documented 5-years of process operating experience, OR 15-years of process operator experience in natural resources industry.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Kenai River campus in Soldotna, AK. This is a full-time, tenure track, 9-month, faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. Your application should clearly demonstrate the following:

  1. Experience working with computer software, DCS, and LMS systems.
  2. Process operating experience, preferably with increasing responsibility and evidence of professional accomplishments. Operating in upstream oil & gas operations, including field, plant and pipeline operations; OR downstream oil & gas, including plant, pipeline, and other associated field operations; OR chemical production, refining, or power production, including reciprocal, turbine, and boiler operation.
  3. Knowledge of Alaska’s process industries.
  4. Knowledge of Process Technology AAS degree program
  5. Your post-secondary teaching and/or related industry instructional training work experience directly related to industrial process operations. Experience with: learning outcomes, curriculum development, developing assessments, lecturing, and hands on instruction.
  6. Knowledge of process control applications, i.e.: WonderWare, Fisher, Rosemount, DeltaV, Allen-Bradley, Control Logix, or similar digital control software.
  7. Education: degrees & amp; certifications in PRT, IPI or closely related fields and education.

Finalists for this position will be asked to give a 10-minute teaching presentation pertaining to a 100 or 200 level process technology related topic typically delivered in a classroom, and a 20-30 minute skills demonstration involving a hands-on lab simulation.
